Look Good, Feel Good

Posted in Angela Simmons, Beauty, Exercise, Healthy Eating, Healthy Lifestyle, Uncategorized, Weight Loss

Hello Stylista’s, I hope you are all well.  As you can see this is my first blog for a while.  So before writing it I had to have a real think about what I’d write.  I didn’t want to just jump back into talking about the latest trends or which celebrity is dressing the best at the moment.  I had to have a real hard think about what ‘Style Makes Sense,’ is, and what Style Makes Sense is about. After breaking it down and thinking about it for a while what come to me was Style Makes Sense is about helping you to look good as well as feel good. Style Makes Sense isn’t solely about Fashion it about looking good in every aspect, inside and out.  What I mean by that is looking good from head to toe, from the inside out.  So that includes your hair looking good as well as your nails, your body looking good as well as the clothes you wear on it.

We live in a world where celebrities are admired.  Many celebrities are trendsetters. We copy everything from their hairstyle to what they wear. Most celebrities look great at all times but do you really think them looking good just comes down to throwing on a designer dress and getting their hair done by a celebrity stylist? Well if you did the answer is NO. Most celebrities or should I say all have strict diets and intense fitness regimes. ‘I didn’t say it was easy to look good,’ lol!

So from now on so you too can look like hot celebrities Style Makes Sense will be providing you with tips on everything from tips on eating healthy, exercise tips, hair, make up and of course fashion and styling tips.

Hope you’re ready for the best ride of your life!!!

I’ll Be Back!!

Aries Lady=Stylish, Sexy & Fashionable

Posted in Kourtney Kardashian, Posh Spice, Sarah Jessica, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sex and the City, The Kardashians, Uncategorized, Victoria Beckham

Being an Aries I’d say I was born under one of the most stylish star signs of the zodiac, sharing my stylishness with Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kourtney Kardashian.  I think what we all have in common other than being an Arien is that we all have fashion and stylishness runnin through our veins.

I’ve always loved Victoria  Beckham and she’s definietly  a fashion icon.  She’s inspired me from day one when she was in Spice Girls she always looking elegant and sophisticated. I even cut my hair short when she did *embarrassed face*. That’s how much she inspired me.  What I love about Victoria’s style is that she always dresses very lady-like with an edge.

Even though I love her, I’ve spoke I think enough about Vicky, lets’s move onto Sarah Jessica Parker another famous fashionista who’s born under the star sign of Aries. What I love about Sarah’s style is that she can go from one extreme to another with her style and still look great. She can look sharp and edgy one minute and extremely elegant the next. Sarah Jessica Parker could put on a bin liner with apair of Laboutin’s and carry it off!!!  I absolutely love her style! She does it all and very well too.

Last but not least is the freshy of fabulous style, Kourtey Kardashian the eldest sister of the Kardashian’s Sibling’s. I must say I love her dress sense. It’s sassy, girly but sexy at the same time.  I’d describe her style as classy, with a bohemien edge. She always looks well groomed and put together. I can’t wit to see what she’ll be wearing to her lil sis Kim K’s wedding. I know she’ll look great in whatever she convinced wears.

So have I convinced you yet?  I know you’re all out there wishing you were born under the star sign of Aries as being an Aries gives you guaranteed Stylishness.

Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number!!

Posted in Aldo, Kurt Geiger, Net-a-Porter, Styling Tips
I turned 30 years old just over a month ago. I must say turning 30 was a pivitol moment for me as I believe at this point is where I turned into a woman. Being a woman for me mean’s a range of different things, one of the main things being having to start looking at life a lot more seriously.
One of the things I relate to age is the way we dress.  The way you dress as a woman says a lot about you. Being a stylist I often find my self paying attention to and analysing the way women of different ages dress and the changes in dressing women close to me have undertaken as they’ve got older.
Turning 30 has definitley made me start to think about the way I dress, and think about whether there is a big difference to the way women dress in their 20′s to women in their 30′s.
I’m quite a spontaneous dresser so I don’t really follow trends, I shop in a range of shops which include Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, Reiss, Topshop, Zara, Karen Millen, French Connection, River Island and many more High Street Brands.  However as you may know all of the above are quite different in regards to the type of aparel they stock.  Reiss is quite conservative and elegant whereas Urban Outfitters is a mixture urban and vintage.
Being a follower of celebrity fashion and looking at celebs who are in their 30′s such as Kim Kardashian, Katie Holmes, Kelly Rowland I have noticed changes in their dress sense as they’ve hit their 30′s though very subtle changes.

A Classic outfit, which isn't too old but neither too young. The colour's are quite subtle and can be worn during the day or on a dinner date. Try and keep wardrobe with a mixture of tailored items including tailored jackets, trousers which can be dressed up or down.

I think being in your early 30′s shouldn’t make you feel as though you need to have a whole wardrobe revamp or even fear being seen as ‘mutton dressed up as lamb!!! I think we have at least a decade or two before being seen as this.  Although I do feel it is time to maybe dress at bit more conservative at times going over the top and  looking as if  you’re dressed for a day at the office 7 days a week is not the way forward.
Au revoir!

Style Tip: Light vs Dark vs Patterns

Posted in Uncategorized

As women we all have good and bad days whether we’re slim or chubby. I know many women and not one of them are the same body shape. I’ve got friends who are very slim and want to gain weight and I have friends on the thicker side who want to lose that extra stone. Us women never seem to be happy with our bodies.

There are times when we want to look slim right now or thicker right now and don’t have the time to spend hours at the gym or eat all of those delicious cream cakes. Thats why there’s fashion tips and tricks and me to give them to you.

There are many ways to give the illusion of being slimmer or bulkier, especially with colours and patterns. It’s almost like an optical illusion.

Wearing a pale dress will always make you look one dress size bigger.

The little black dress will always make you look slimmer.

Patterned dresses will act the same as those that are pale coloured adding bulk to the areas that are in paler shades. Also depending on which part of the body the pattern is placed it can also give the illusion of a broader frame. So always becareful when wearing patterns.

This summer lace and crochet garments are set to take the world by storm. But have you got the guts to bear all???

Lace and crocheted garments were big in the late nineties and have made a massive comeback for this summer. There are many ways to wear this look either with a nice feminine slip underneath or if your brave with nothing but a bra and some knickers, the decision is yours. Though some may say wearing a see through dress with only your bra and knickers can be quite revealing and even slutty, it really depends on how you put the look together.

Well this will definietly be a look I’ll be wearing this summer, the question is will you? I better get down the gym and start those crunches today!!

Fashion of the Week

Posted in Latest Fashion, Spring Fashion, Styling Tips, Uncategorized

With spring only around the corner, I think its only right that I start revamping my wardrobe with some spring clothing.Though I’ve been looking for hours I’ve managed to find a couple of must’ve goods one including Dip-Dye water colour Kimono from Topshop.

Dip -dye Water Colour Kimono,£38, www.topshop.com

The thing I love about this Kimono is that it is so versatile. It can be worn in many differnet ways. I’ve pictured myself wearing it in the summer with a pair of denim shorts and a pair of engineer boots. However they could be worn with some skinny jeans and a pair of courts or even over a swimming costume on the beach.

I’m definitely loving this item, its a wardrobe must have.

2011 Trends…..Bad Girls Gone Good!!!

Posted in Latest Fashion, Styling Tips, Uncategorized

After flicking through a few mags and checking out some of the latest catwalk shows last night like last years trends this years are going to be vibrant, chic, and very sexy. However this years trends are set to be a lot more sophisicated and not as hard. If you rememeber last years trends were a mix of hard and soft i.e military wear, sporty, hard jackets, tight dresses etc. Whereas this years fashion is going to be a mix of soft materials, loose dresses, wide legged trousers, dolman sleeve tops etc. Much more lady like.

So far my favourite trend by far is the mid length and long skirts and dresses. Like the maxi dress this trend is set to sweep the nation having us all looking like the ladies we are.
The mid length and long skirt can be dressed up with a corset top or even a blouse or dressed down with a pair of combat boots and t-shirt…..

STYLE TIP OF THE DAY:
Wearing your mid length skirt just below your calf give the illusion of a longer leg. This being due to you not actually being able to see where your knees are ,which is what usually gives away your leg length. So to all you people with shorther legs this could be the look for you!!!

This year the girl has definietly transformed into a lady!!
